What repair maunaul would you guys suggest for a 88 f350?
I spent 20.00 on one and was really dissapointed.
I'm not used to anything with emission or computer stuff added on and have a lot to learn
I've suggested this on previous threads -- check out your local library. They often have various types of manuals -- especially for the 80's models. Sometimes they're in the reference section, but you can at least see how well you like them -- and photocopy parts that you might need. Check both your city and county libraries -- they usually have different policies about the types of books that they get. (Around here I can access at least 4 county and 2 city library systems with the same card )
Also, a lot of libraries are adding online manuals. Ours have an odd version of AllData that you can access in the library. You can print pages for about .05 per page.
As for the manuals themselves ---IMHO
Haynes, Chilton, and Motor tend to be pretty spotty. Sometimes you can get a complete picture if you check out all 3.
Mitchell had a pretty good professional series, I think that they've discontinued them, but again, your library may have them around.
Factory manuals are the most complete -- and your library might have them.
They do assume that you have had a lot of training, and that you have access to all of the 'special tools'.
The 'real' mechanics around here may have different opinions. I just fool around with things.
Try to get the manual on CD, the old Popular Mechanics CDs were great, until Alldata decided to start charging by the year and the keys are no longer available ...
