2000 f250 I am leaking gas off of the back side of the fuel filter near the release valve and an electronic sensor? of some sort. I have been having this problem for quite some time now, it dates back to the winter when i started leaking fuel. I initially posted and figured it was the seals on the fuel valve off the back side of the filter and this is what everyone else thought too. I replaced the seals and the valve and it initially helped for quite a while. It didn't get ride of the leak, but limited it to a drip once in a while. Now it looks like it is a bit worse and my truck would not start this morning. I am pretty good with gas engines and learning more about diesels every day so I'm trying. Any help would be great.
I had the exact same problem with mine except mine would still start. If you replaced the O-rings with the proper kind and it still leaked you may have some crud of some kind stuck in there and now all of a sudden it has gotten worse. I replaced the entire valve when I did mine and have had no problems since. But I doubt if the fuel leak is your problem right now unless it is pouring out to the point the filter housing can't even hold fuel at all.
You need to first find out for sure what is leaking. Clean everything up and get on top with a good light and have someone turn the key on (don't start it). Fuel pump will run for about 20 seconds and will build as much pressure as is it going to. You should be able to see it. Figure out where it is leaking and post back. It could be a cracked fuel valve.
Have you been playing with it lately trying to stop the leak? That sensor thing with wires sounds like your fuel bowl heater. When you turn your key to the on position does your glow plug light come on? If not unplug the wires from the sensor on the fuel bowl (this won't make the leak any worse) look for a blown fuse, probably #30, then leaving the sensor unplugged try to start the truck.
If this isn't your problem can you describe the no start condition a little better?
Also check like Barry said to pinpoint the source of your leak, and as Mark brought up, what type of O-rings did you use when you replaced them last time? Viton, EPDM? Buna?
