I was by my favorite diesel truck shop yesterday looking at all the neat stuff.. I listened to the owner explaining to another guy about a 4in. tubro back system.. He showed him a flat bent hollow piece he said comes off the tubro then to the exhast. It wasn't round like I thought at all. He said to install the 4in. they had to bend or move the fire wall a little ? Is all that right or just a sales pitch ? Is the stock piece for the tubro flat and hollow ? And how do the move or bend the fire wall ?
My exhast is 3.5 in stock and I can see where a 4 in, expecially if the stock piece he showed, would be of a great benefit.
Thanks........
Now this is sort of odd, I'm just as glad I did the delete of the muffler. As I'm in and out of RV parks all of the time I'm constantly questioned by other PSD owners how did I get that cool sounding exhaust that is not really loud, but just right?
Another reason I put the muffler on is because I think before long they will make the guys doing the inspections each year, look to make sure there is a muffler installed. With all the hoopla about emissions.

He was talking about the OBS trucks (94.5-97)- they had a pancake downpipe stock that sounds like what you are describing, and the firewall does have to be massaged to clear a round down pipe. Our trucks have a round down pipe stock.

Just love my Alaska plates!! Diesels are exempt from inspection. Even a state as green as AK has enough sense to realize the low pollution of a diesel power plant.
Robert, I know that on the Old body 7.3 the turbo down pipe goes to a flattened piece. That might be what he was showing you. IIRC, you do have to beat the firewall a lil to get it to fit I helped my buddy with his. On a 6.slow you have to bend the firewall also to get a 4" in, that's why most of their systems come with a 3.5" aftermarket. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

We have inspection stickers on all vehicles in Louisiana. Each vehicle has to be inspected each year, the cost $10.00 per year. They don't check emissions, just things like lights, horn, brakes, everything having to do with safety.
I lived in Baton Rouge for 5 years and learned it was all a matter of who you knew. I was very heavy into racing at the time so I had enough connections in the automotive area so inspections were never a problem for me. But I am a world class non-conformist in every way, shape, or form.

I too got my 4" stainless steel Magnaflow for $350.00 delivered. It is not much, if any at all, louder than stock inside the truck until you get on it. My installer did not have to beat on the firewall to install it.
I went with a Magnaflow 4" turboback exhaust and it sounds good, not loud at all. As far as install, it fit perfect, I was very impressed with the workmanship on the Magnaflow
Farmboysdiesel is where i got my 5 in turbo back kit from. great deal and great service. the fit was more than perfect. barely even had to move my spare tire to fit it. im happy thus far
