i need a new fuel pump for my 390 engine but i don't know what year the engine is. does all the 390 engines come with the same fuel pump or are they changed over the years? also what would be the stock replacement part number for the pump be?
Carter and AC were 2 of the company's Ford used for fuel pumps. Some had a filter cannister on the bottom and some a inline filter. Summit and Jegs sell the Carter M6905 which is a std high flow replacement. Bout $100. I'm sure NAPA or the other part houses have a more cost effective replacment. If it's an older screw together one there are rebuild kits. Newer stuff is just crimped and not rebuildable. There can be differences in the pump arms. Best thing to do is remove yours and bring it along to match up. If you can post the make and numbers off it that would help. And if it has a cannister filter on the bottom.
my pump has a fuel cannister under it and the 2 par numbers that i see on it are RD410M and 2546 what can you tell me about the pump i have by these numbers.
That I have in my Linc/Merc MPC as a "65 352-390 Airtex-fuel pump & filter assy". ID'd by RD-410-MF stamped on mounting flange. Part number D2TZ-9350-A. Catalog code "A" which is Mercury. My parts catalog is a 75 final edtion so I don't know if there is a later more current part number. Or a rebuild kit. Mine does not show a kit number. Bill (numbers dummy) might know. But any parts store should be able to cross ref the correct Merc part number. I have 2 off brand cannister pumps and both have the same fuel pump arm. So bring yours with you to compare. If they can't cross ref the Merc number a 67 GT390 pump with cannister should be the same. But again you'd better double check that.

Air-Tex Fuel Pump w/filter = RD-410-MF
FoMoCo p/n: D2TZ-9350-A
This is the fuel pump Ford came out with in 1972, which replaced all the previous 1963/71 FE (and 1961/64 292 / 1964/72 FT's) fuel pumps car & truck.
There's no repair kit listed for this pump and it wasn't used after 1972.
The pump is obsolete from Ford, but...
While you can prolly find new pumps at NAPA, I did find two NOS (new, old stock) Ford pumps at dealers.
Sopp Ford in Los Angeles, CA has one / Pitts Ford-Mercury in Williamson NY has one.
not to sure how much luck i will have with the part numbers. everyplace around here does all there searching by make model year which don't help me out at all since i have a 64 f100 with a 390 which they didnt come with that year. what would i ask auto zone in order for a new pump there damn new method sucks and part numbers don't mean a thing at that place anymore?

You have a RDM-410-M marked fuel pump, right?
1965/72 F100/350 352/360/390
1965/68 352/390/428 Galaxie/LTD except Hi-Performance (it fits others besides LTD/Galaxies, but this should do it).
While we're on this. The "re-build-able pumps" with the screws instead of crimps. I have two of these now and would like to rebuild them. The AutoStoned® crimped POS is such crap the first I bought lasted 10min and was never installed. While assembling the line fittings to the pump "which by the way had to be purchased separately" the housing cracked.. LMAO!!! no so much at the time but I had to when it all set in. Luckily CarQuestion™ had one in stock and we were in business after a short walk.
So is there a rebuild kit for these at NAPA or Ford ? or ?? TIA Bob
