Help with 351winsor
I am based in the UK building a cobra replica, my engine choice for the project is a 351w. after searching for some time i've finally found one advertised locally add reads
"Totally complete 351w in excellent condition with a c6 g\box-came from a 92 dayvan"
My problem is, firstly how do i decide if it is actually a genuine winsor i'm led to believe that ford made various 351 configurations such as 351c, 351m
Secondly if it does turn out to be genuine are there any major internal diferences between a van engine compared to a car application
Last question assuming it is from a 1992 vehicle should it have fuel injection or carb
Hope you can help
Pete
8 bolts holding the valve cover on=351c or 351m
There should be no difference in the van engine except maybe the oil pan which if it is a rear sump, usually fits better in most applications anyway.
Don't worry about it being fuel injected, you can take all that stuff off and put a carb on it. If you want to use a mechanical fuel pump, you will have to find an older timing cover and camshaft eccentric and install them to mount it. Since you are having a hard time finding parts, you could install an electric fuel pump designed for carb use and install it and leave the original timing cover on.
