I bought my truck 1 1/2 years ago and it came with the stainless grill insert. the kind with lots of narrow slots. Just wondering if these are intended to raise operating temp or are they just for looks. My truck came from a cold climate, so I took it out (I don't like the looks anyway). I live in a moderate climate, but drive to the ski hill alot in the winter. Should I be using the insert during the winter? I see a few people using these year-round.
I noticed there are alot of looks at your post but no replies, so hear is my opinion. The stainless bar type grill inserts are not winter fronts, they are purely for looks.
OK, those have winter front characteristics. Yank it off and be done with it. I would bet your fan would kick-on constantly in the spring/summer with that thing on.
Sorry for the GM pic but these are what I'm talking about. Not the bar type. Its a thin pannel insert over the stock grill.
I had a Lund SS screenfront on my truck for almost 8 years, until a deer took it out this winter. Never had any sort of temperature related issues, towing or otherwise. They are just for looks.
