Electric Fan?

Looking for yet more feedback / opinions on rebuilding my 302. In lookng to gain horsepower I have considered getting rid of the stock fan and fan clutch and switching to an electric fan. Will this cool as effectively as the stock setup? Also, will the gain in hoorsepower be worh it or am I going overboard?

The clutch fan saves horsepower so, I don't know if the electric would make that much difference vs cost.

You'll gain significant hp with electric fans. I saw a dyno test on a big block and the change from a stock fan (no clutch) was over 20 horses...about half that over a clutch fan. Added benefits include removing weight off the water pump bearing and cleaning up the engine bay (don't need the shroud). A stock fan will pull about 5000 cfm at 2500 rpm (when you really don't need it) and about half that at idle (when you really need it)...I'm currently running 2 PermaCool 14" fans that pull 2700 cfm each and they pull the same whether you're idling or at speed....I tow a race car and I very seldom run over 170 on the hottest of days...As you can tell, I like it!!!

I know of two perma cool electric fans 10" that I can get ahold of for a good price if you are interested. They were on a big block small engine bay so you should have no problem. Thanks

How much air do they pull? Do they have the wiring and does it have a temperature switch.
