OK... I'm just about to shoot myself. This little problem is being a pain in the **** for me and if I can get some advice it would be GREATLY appreciated!
The particulars on my truck: 1995 F150, 302, automatic trans., nothing special.
My problem:
I start my truck in the morning and as it warms up, it surges (seems like it kicks to high idle) and my CEL blinks 3 times. Not sure what that means...
As I start to drive, within a few minutes, my motor stumbles and backfires. It feels like the engine is starved for fuel and wants to die. I sometimes give it more gas and as the RPMs increase, the problem goes away. As long my RPMs are up, I don't have any problems. Once the motor is warm, the truck runs fine. But the CEL stays on...
I pulled the codes and this is what I got:
121 - Closed throttle volt. higher or lower than expected
122 - TP sensor below min voltage
172 - O2 sensor/lean
173 - O2 sensor/rich
From what I could gather, 121 and 122 could mean my TP sensor is bad. But what about 172 and 173? Could the lean/rich reading be caused by the possible faulty TP sensor?
Help with this would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm sure you'll get more specific code answers, but definitely carefully check all your vaccuum hoses and connections. Also, witn the engine running, listen carefully for any obvious vaccuum hissing. Cheers...
Sounds like your TPS crapped out. Put an ohmeter on it to see. With the engine off, unplug the TPS and find two of the three terminals that will change resistwance when you press the throttle. Move the throttle slowly from idle to full to see if the meter jumps around or has dead spots. If so, replace. You can back probe the connector when the ignition is on to check for voltage fluctuations.
Does it do this everytime you start your truck ??
Even after it warms up ??
Sometimes, but rarely, usually after a night of windy humid or rainy conditions, my truck gives me the 3 quick blinks when I first start it,...and it stalls or near stalls during warmup. I have found that in my situation, I just turn it off and restart it and all is fine.
I have attributed my situation to a little moisture causing a bad computer boot.
Restarting, which reboots the computer seems to be all I need.
