Since I have had hos I have replaced every bearing on the front of the motor including the alt, both idlers and a tensioner. Well the one I put in the tensioner failed the other day and tore up the pulley. So I head to my local Oreily's to pick one up and what do ya know....they don't make one anymore, they redesigned the whole tensioner and it uses a different pully and that's the only one they sell. I didn't want to spend $100 to fix a $20 problem so I decided to make my own pulley. I got me a block of T6061 aluminum and started turning it down and boring it on the lathe. The first one didn't work cuz the calipers I had were junk and the bearing fell into the hole rather than pressing in. But I got the second one roughed in tonight, I gotta make sure it will line up like I want and then face both sides with a fine cut and take some of the material out from the inside to save a little weight. Once it's done I will post some pics, should look super cool and last forever
I might take you up on that, while Clint and I (acctually more Clint) were taking the bed off I seen loose brake hardware in the right rear adjuster opening So I will have to tear into that too, along with the air bags, bed and now the tensioner ARRRRGGH!
Jack, you know me, I love to build whatever I need, I was so proud of my pulley I was showing it off to all the guys at work lol.
thats cool, you know me I like to make my own parts too.
at one time I was supposed to get a Bridgeport mill from a Great Uncle, but it never panned out, didnt realy have room for it anyways, but I would have made room, lol
