Battery Drain?

I haven't been driving my '77 Explorer because it needs a bit of work. I am finding that if I leave the truck without starting it for 2-3 days my battery gets completely drained. All my lights appear to be working fine - except for the dash lights - I haven't pulled the instrument panel out yet. When the truck isn't running and I put the blinkers on they are very sluggish and the stereo has been yanked out. The battery is brand new and I just put new battery cables on as well.
Anybody have an idea where I should start with this?

Thanks for your help.

Run a test light between the Negative terminal of the battery and the cable. If it lights up, you have a drain. Best thing to start is to leave the test light in place, then start pulling fuses, one at a time and see if the light goes out.

Franklin2 in the electrical forum can help you with issues like this better than anyone else on here, he's helped me through all my electrical problems, and taught me a lot.

I had a new/rebuilt alternator that had a short in it draining the battery

I went through the same thing. Drove me nuts for at least a month. I replaced battery twice. I replaced alternator due to a bad diode. I rewired stuff to get rid of ghetto wiring to fuse box and do it the right way. If truck sat over weekend it would be dead. My only draw on battery was radio memory and was a VERY small amperage. For whatever reason I decided to upgrade to a Duralast Gold battery over Duralast Professional one and have not had a problem since. I know I'm rambling, but definitely check for shorts before doing anything else. It could save you a lot of headache. And I know you said you got a new battery, but you might want to have it tested anyway. I went through two before getting one that would not drain after 2 days. It would always say battery good but need charging and I knew I should not have to charge it every two days due to my radio memory.
