I've been busy......

With the weather being so nice the last couple of days, I've finally got around to doing some of the projects that I wanted to get done on the F2 Fiddy.

First is replacing both axles with 1 tons. I scored a Sterling 10.25 with a limited slip and 4.10's and I have a lead on a front Dana 60. The object is to enable this truck to reliably turn 37's or 38's.

Here is the rear all cleaned up and almost ready to go in:

The second big thing that I've been waiting way too long for is finishing the paint on it. My "friend" started to do it for me and bailed on me half way through. I haven't done body work in nearly 20 years, and I really don't have a shop to do it in right now. Believe it or not, I'm doing it out in my driveway with nothing more than sanding blocks, an electric palm sander and a tiny Porter Cable pancake air compressor that I use for my nail guns.

I was going to just scuff up my hood, but I came across a 1980 hood in the junkyard today for $25.00 and I just thought it would match my 1980 "emblem - free black" grille. The "FORD" letters weren't in that good of shape, so I decided to paint them flat black to match the grille.

Here is a peak of the hood before wet sanding and buffing:

Just a heads up on the ford letters, The 1975 to 1981 Econoline van uses the same hood letters. Infact they have two sets, one for the hood, and the other for the left rear door. Just incase you want to go that route and find better letters.

I really don't mind the black. It matches the grille, but thanks of the heads up.

I'll keep an eye out for them on vans now too!
