If you mean the red light activates when the brake pedal is pushed........ no. It is just sending power to the trailer plug, but not going anywhere until the trailer is connected.

yeah thats what i was talking about, theres also a switch right next to it with two red wires out the back of it, is this an on/off switch for the controller? if it is it doesnt work, lol.

also, theres two plugs for it, one at the bumper and one in the bed the one in the bed only seams to work, where should i look for a solution, plus since i dont have a trailor available, can i test it with a muiltmeter?

thanks.

What wire socket do you have?
6 pin or 7 pin?

You can test it with an automotive test light or multimeter.

The switch may be for an auxiliary circuit, like backup lights on the previous owners trailer if it is a 7 pin connector.

PO probably had a trailer and slide in camper that would be the reason for 2 plugs. Mine carried a camper now tows a trailer and it's still wired for both.

Things are just fine........ can't shut it off anyway without removeing it.... on later 92+ you could maybe remove the fuses in the engine compartment fuse box.......... but why.
