I have a 99 f-250 superduty with the 5.4. Both front wheel bearings are gone. I went to advance auto and since it is made before march of 99 and has rabs only It is over $500. the other ones are $200 there is no way they will fit right? I could cut the wire but I dont know about the axle and bolts. If not is that something worth getting from a juck yard or not? If any one knows a good junk site please let me know I need a lot of parts. Thanks Dan
i don't think it has anything to do with the rabs. my 99 is an early build as well, but with 4wabs, and when my hub bearing was replaced, the only one available was for a late build 99-04. a company sells a kit that will convert to a late build (i believe the rotors have a different offset) i felt like that might cause issues in the future buying parts, so i just got the dealer replacement.
I just replaced a wheel bearing on my early 99 with a late 99 one. It bolts right up and everything is the same. I didn't have any problems, but my truck didn't have front abs, so I don't know if that make a difference.
From what I know if you have a truck B4 3/99 you can buy the 515021 bearing and new rotor for the after 3/99 and you will be fine. I don't think you can get away with just doing the bearing...I have a 3/3/98 and thats what I have heard..
You can use the newer bearings but you have change the rotors to the newer style. The older bearings had a 10mm thick hub, the newer ones are 13mm thick thats why you have to change the rotors also.I would check with Ford Parts and Ford Diesel Parts at Powerstroke Shop I think they have good deals on them,or check on ebay.
