Help Finding A/C Leak
I have a 2001 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0 V6 at the end of last summer I noticed my AC was not working up to par, it would get hot and cold so I checked the refrigerant level and it was low so I added a can which helped for a few weeks, it stayed cold, however since winter has come and gone it is now time to start looking at this, any ideas on some common AC gaskets that may have gone bad or ways to diagnose where the leak is coming from, Since I filled and it ran fine now it has had a few months of no use appears that all the refrig I added has leaked out again. Any help on what to look for would be great thanks,

Yes, you can get the oil with leak detector in it. You just inject it with a special tool that you can buy at the parts store along with it, and run the system a little bit. The stuff shows up great on the blacklight.

A/c systems should be cycled in the winter as well as the summer.
Look around the connections for oil residue. Usually they also leak oil if it is leaking in a place where its visable.
Older systems will leach thru the hoses over a period of time. jd
