gear change
i have an 87 f350 with a 7.3 hypermax turbo and a 5 speed (both i swapped in)i currently have 3.55 gears and i am running 36 inch tires, it leaves aloth to be desired when towing as you can imagin what gears should i swap in to incease power for towing but still be able to run down the highway. I only usi it on the highway a few times a year so haveing to ga a lil slower doesn't bother me that bad as long as i can pull a hill with out it bringing the truck to its knees

You might think about getting a whole different F-350 (make sure it's a Dana 60) with 4:10s swap the complete axle assemblies and sell the donor again. I have gotten gear-swaps for free or close to it using this method.
There are some potential pit-falls; you know your axles: not bent, good brakes, good bearings etc. although this stuff can be swapped too, except maybe for the bearings. And of course you have to sell the donor again and put up the cash for the donor in the first place. But in the end you might have nothing invested your "re-gear".
It's not as much work as it appears to be esp. if you have a forklift, hydraulic jack, lift or something similar.
For some people (probably most people) though it's easier to just have new R&Ps put in.

i planned on getting used axles from the salvage yard i can get them for about 70 each from the local u pull it yard the reals i see alot but i might changet the R&P in the front since they arnt as easy to come by there
Front Ford Dana 60s are the best frontend ever put in a p/u. They are all (in the years you can bolt in) high pinion and up until '91 or so were king-pin style. Plus they have a track-bar which I don't think anyone else ever used with leaf spring suspensions. They ALL should have because especilly as your steering/suspension parts start to wear the track-bar help keep you going straight down the road, GOOD DEAL! It does limit the articulation of the front suspension but as far as I'm concerned on a 1-Ton p/u it's worth it.
All of this means they are hard to find and usually expensive when you do. Around my area it is usually cheaper to buy a whole F-350 than just the axles/rearends. But there's no gaurantee the rearends aren't going to need some parts. However you can drive the truck in most cases and get an idea what condition the rearend are in. That is usually better than a wrecking-yard inspection.

at the u pull it yards here they just go by a set price for a part is no matter what type of vehicle it is the price is the same Gary's U-Pullit - Price Sheet Page - Over 1800 cars, trucks, vans, and SUV's foreign and Domestic! i would like a newer axle so i can ditch my kingpin axle for ball joints

If you want to get rid of your kingpin front end, you can ditch it at my house...
