loose steering
Ok, so I just got the truck back from all the work I had to have done. I had all new ball joins, tie rods and u-joints installed along with new bearings, seals and brake rotors. After having it aligned I was looking forward to having a truck with nice firm steering and a straight steering wheel. Well as with everything else with this truck that wasn’t the case. There is actually a little loose play in the steering and the wheel is crooked when driving straight. Dose anybody have any suggestions on what I should do next?

Take it back to the place that did all this work. They obviously didn't do a good job. They should have test drove it after all the work and the alignment. Someone doesn't know how to do wheel alignments properly.
The play could be a faulty part or the steering box has a little play.
Did they replace the radius rod bushings too? Sometimes if they are moving around they can make the steering feel a little loose.
Definately take it back....

The off centre steering wheel is definately the fault of whoever did the alignment, so as all4ford says, take it back and get that corrected. Also as all4ford says the play may be in your steering box and not the fault of the shop. Lift your hood and you should see the steering column running forward to the steering box. Rotate the steering column back and forward with your hand and look to see if the arm on the bottom of the steering box moves. If it takes a lot of movement of the column to get the steering box arm to move you will need the steering box adjusted to take the play out. Make sure that there is no play in the "universal joint" in the steering column.
