So the input shaft on the V8 tranny is shorter ( by how much) and only the 6 cylinder tranny will work?

I think the bell housing on a 6 and a small v8 is the same.
Yeah looking at one house to move out here for really cheap, and one property to try and make a few bucks off of.

thats fine but its the input shaft we are talking about lol. the inputs on the v8's are too short to work with the flathead where as the I6's are the correct length, may even be the correct splines too. the transmission is a littl longer than the stock flathead one so ill have to use the driveshaft too or cut mine down

My bad Im a little behind on this one, was just thinking aloud haha.
Is it possible to change that input shaft, or something that wouldnt really make it worth it?

What makes it not worth it? If the tranny is cheap enough and he has the shaft from another transmission, as long as it was possible, and not rocket science to do, i dont see why it wouldnt be worth it.
Must be alot harder then I am thinking it would be to do.
