I don't know about Tom-Tom's but I bought a GArmin Nuvi 660 about a month ago for $310. A few months ago it was $700. I have used it to go on 3 road trips, and plenty of daily driving, and it is Awesome. Here is the Link....
I've got a Garmin Nuvi 360 and love it. If I had it to do all over again, I'd paid less and gotten a Nuvi 350 since I'm not using any of the bluetooth or media features.
I've compared the two and found that I prefer TomTom, anyone have any experience with it?
I purchased a TomTom 720 a few months ago ... I love it ... has mapshare which updates my maps whenever I sync it with my computer ... Bluetooth connects with my BlackBerry while I'm driving ...one other nice thing about the TT was it came with Canadian maps ... standard ... I needed them, since i do visit every now and then :+)
Yes ... but make sure your phone is compatable if you want to use the live traffic features ... I think any phone with Bluetooth will work with the unit as a handsfree unit ... but only certain phones will allow data transfer for the traffic service .... I thnk it is about $5-8 a month, but i didn't want to use that feature anyway!!! I think you will be happy with any unit you purchase, my father bought a $99 unit at some clearance center and he loves it ... just decide what features you need and look for the unit you want to go on sale ... I anticipate all of them will be on sale for Fathers day coming up in a month or two ....
My Garmin Nuvi 360 will do the bluetooth hands free link with my cell phone. It also contains the entire detailed map base for North America including Canada. I only connect it to the internet for periodic updates. I don't use the traffic feature either. I do use the hotel - motel - local resources feature which is quite handy.
Just an update, I purchased the new Tom Tom GO 930 on Wednesday 06-04-08 from Crutchfield and a Sirius One SV1FM SiriusRadio/Car Kit & Install kit Pkg for extra $5, suppose to arrive here tomorrow Monday. I'll let ya'll know what I think, it suppose to have all new features. LOOK
