Ok, so my son races in the Best of the West dessert truck series and has an outragious truck the has lunched #4 rod twice now. Short of going to the library and dragging out the Mitchel manual, I am fairly sure I have the problem narrowed down already. If I remember correctly, #4 cylinder on this engine is the final rod journal the oil sees before returning to the pan. In dessert racing you are tossed every which way and very violently, along with quick stops and accelerations. All of this I tend to believe is starving the oil pick up and the result is last in line (#4 rod journal) suffers from starvation. after about 150 to 200 miles of this, the engine pulls out a pic nic basket of busted rods and punched out crankcase.

Ok, now the meat of this thing. I am looking to see if anyone knows of a dry sump oiling system for the 4.0 SOHC, or is our fabricator going to make his next house payment on this deal? Hopefully with the engine now being in the new Mustang, someone would want to beat the pants of of it and would need just this very thing as well. Any positive feedback would be greatly appreciated. If someone is saying why doesn't his son just drive it easier?, well, let's just say, if Dale Earhardt drove easier, do you think you would know who he was? J/K, thanks again for letting me join the forum and have a great day all.
