i have a old western diesel quad chip its ok but sounds like dp is the way to go. my question is will the stock tranny with 100,000 miles on it handle the new found power or will i be putting in a new tranny
i dont pull much just a four place snowmobile trailer and a 20ft car trailer
so iam not pulling alot of weight
any input would help

There's no guarantees with high mileage automatics but my stock one with 224,000 miles seems to handle the DP ok. The transmission is one of the things Jody will ask about when he programs your chip.

Darin, if you have exhaust, intake, gauges, you will be ok with DP. I installed a BTS-VB at the same time to help keep my trans happy for a little longer. These trans are not the best, but they will hold up to DP if you take care of them. This chip is the only way to go, in my book.

Good luck.

I had to rebuild my tranny at 170k, pull a construction trailer loaded up to 13k lbs all the time and a 4k boat. IMHO if you plan on keeping your truck you will eventually have to re-build.....so when you have to re-build you send chip back to Jody to reburn.

I've allready kicked my self 10,000 times for not having this chip a lot sooner....

I have about 130,000 on mine and it is holding up ok, I dont take it easy on it either. Cause when it lets go I just get to build a better stronger one designed for the truck and its capabilities. Good Luck..

Diane's Ex is still going with a Stock tranny, though it would be best to go with a BTS VB if you can before hand. I just got a 40T & 80E till I get my BTS and gauges then reburn it with Diane's tunes.
