Explanation and help, please

2000 4.6 4x4 extracab

Monroe shocks are on sale in my area, and it is time to replace my stockers. I need to decide between the Gas-Magnums or the Sensa-Tracs. The price is only about $1.00 or so more for the Gas Magnum. Is one better than the other?

Thanks

Damon

What's better kinda depends on how you like your ride.........
Monroe The Industry Leader - Application-Engineered Ride Control Products

The Monroe® Gas Magnum® truck shock absorber is designed for mid to full size, hard working pick-up trucks and vans. These units provide firm control without a harsh ride. With up to twice the fluid capacity of standard 1" bore shocks, Monroe Gas Magnum truck shocks work more efficiently with less effort.

The Monroe® Sensa-Trac® truck shock absorber with PSD (position sensitive damping) and the Safe Tech™ system combines our exclusive precision tapered grooves in the pressure tube with application engineered valving and Fluon banded piston to improve the ride, handling, and safety characteristics of the vehicle.

These features allow the Monroe Sensa-Trac truck shock absorber to adjust more rapidly to changing road and weight conditions than any other available shock absorber.

The result: enhanced control with uncompromised ride comfort.

I've had the Gas-Magnums on my 89 F-250 for the last 40k or so miles. Happy with them. They definitely give a 'truck' feel, and combined with 4-corner leaf springs, I know I'm driving a truck. Do you do a lot of hauling? Do you have front coils or leafs?

I have put a lot of miles on Gas-Magnums. When they started to get weak I took them back and got free replacements. Lifetime warrenty is nice.

This is a daily driven vehicle. About the only towing I do is my boat during hunting season. Also, I dont haul anything heavy. I do several excursions in the mountains throughout the year, but no heavy 4 wheeling. Seems to me I would probably be happy with the sensatracs since most of my miles are highway. Thanks for the replies.

Yes it is ........ I own Monroe ......... OK? I just hang out here with the common folks for kicks and giggles! Now who's kidding?

No, that's straight from their site. I figgered Dagre could make his decision from that info based on his motoring style.

I put Monroe Reflexs on my truck, and they ride pretty nice. I got 2 of them for $100 i believe at Advance Auto, with a 2 year warranty.

Just they are a little soft for me.. but i drive more aggresive than some people.
