99 F250 headache
about 2 weeks, then suddenly I heard like a loud backfiring as I was going to work one day. I found out the #4 sparkplug had come out of the engine and the threads were stripped. As I am over the mileage warranty ( I purchased the truck from a Ford dealership) the dealership said I might have to pay for the cost
but they covered the repair free of charge. I had the truck for 2 days and then I had a miss in the engine. I assumed that maybe
something came loose, and it just had to be reconnected. WELL it
turns out a rocker arm on the OTHER head (#8 plug)came off
somehow and bent the intake valve. Now they have to take the head off the other side and find out what happened to it? The
dealership that sold me the truck said they will not cover this repair.
This vehicle is in immaculate condition. Am I just a victim of
bad luck? or does this truck actually have many engine problems.
(5.4 l engine)
I haven't even made a payment on it as I have only driven it for 2 weeks out of the 6 weeks I have actually had it in my possession. Should I sell it after I get it repaired? I am afraid
to drive it again.
What's your opinion?
In any case, neither should've happened, period.
I would be curious to know the mileage when you bought it and when the 1st and 2nd problem occured.

The left head problem occurred 2 days after I got the truck back.
By the way this truck was used by the dealership for a parts truck also. I am not sure how long they had it. This was in a small town.
modification to the 5.4 l engine to put special retaining clips on each rocker arm so they don't fall out. The estimate for this is about $1100. Right now my vehicle is in limbo deciding whether this is a recall, or warranty, or I have to pay for it. Will update later
Good Luck!
