Plug Recall

Why isnt there a recall notice for these trucks to fix the plugs? What do you have to do to try and get Ford to do a recall? There is alot of these trucks out there with the same problem,Ford should be stepping up to fix thisand or the plug manufacturer there must be some way to have this rectified at no cost to us the owner!!

This will never become a recall as it is not a safety issue. As far Ford is concerned there is no problem and they have addressed the issue of difficulty removing the plugs by putting out the TSB. All that being said, Ford should step up to the plate and replace all these poorly designed plugs with the corrected one-piece type as a customer satisfaction program.

Only if they make a fair labor time for us to do it... I'm not going to spend "days" doing every truck out there if they screw me on labor time!

I plan on putting new plugs in my truck in the next week or two just to insure that i don't run into a problem down the road....I'd do the same if you had a newer truck

My dealer has done 10 plug jobs, following the TSB and has had one broken plug. There was a reason that one broke. I had mine changed at 65,500 miles and they had no problem. I went back with the Motorcrafts and expect to get another 65,000 or so out of them. My truck was running great, the tips on the old plugs looked good. I cannot tell any difference in the way it performs or my gas mileage with the new plugs. I think that if you run a good detergent gas and follow the TSB on removal, you will likely have no problem.

@ almost 19.00 dollars a plug the champions are expensive. but their one piece design might just be worth it.

Look at he Ranger section concerning the fuel fill hose. I spend half the day trying to fix a cracked hose that Ford does not recognise as a problem. It is a huge problem when gass spills on the ground at the station.
