If it runs and sounds good, I would buy it. Drop the whole thing in. How was it hit? Sometimes when they are hit hard on the side, it will jam the driveshaft up into the tailhousing of the tranny. If all is ok, you could maybe use the driveshaft and modify it to fit. You will at least have the front yoke for the tranny. I would also change it to carb like you suggested. But you are going to have to make sure you get the throttle linkage right for the tranny. Here's a link to that.

Did you say it is CFI? I have never heard of an HO being CFI. I have heard of a 4bbl HO, and a multiport HO. But I don't think it matters anyway-just curious.

Franklin: yes on the EFI...Throttle body not multiport. Has air cleaner w/ two air snorkles .Front qrts.carry 5.0 badges like mustang wears. Car hit rt frt to front .lost hood, grill,rt fender, radiator, fan,f.clutch. Concern at this point is moved eng back enough that smog tubes on heads left dent in firewall. probably took out all mounts can't tell if tran's bellhousing area hurt. do you think brk pedle hanger and boster-mst'r cyl assy could be reasonably installed in 53. What about other item's to transfer? If I use EFI can I get buy w/ External elec fuel pump and add a return line to tank? I don't know how much preasure throttle body req's. So much simplar to go carb. Aod doesn't require computer,so it gets easier. NEGOTIATION"S CONTINUING. chuck

It's hard to say about other parts being able to fit. But if you get the car, you will have everything there to experiment with. I would pull parts off, and then try them. You never know, you may find something that is an easy swap, and can let guys on here know about it.
