Strange Noise

OK, strange noise award is going to go to me I think...almost sounds like "The Jetson's" car...if you guys know what I mean. A loud "PookaPookaPooka" coming from around the Throttle Body. It does it hot or cold...longer cold though. Very loud outside and inside the rig...and is going to drive me nuts I think. It goes away after a while, maybe 1/2 mile of driving or so. This in addition to what sounds like a small exhaust leak when cold that disappears after warmup as well...oh the joys of "new to you," eh?

Maybe an air pocket in the coolant of the intake manifold? Or frozen lash adjusters? Throttle body to manifold gasket?

Interesting x3! How do you check for any of the above? Frozen lash adjuster fix when I had a '68 Dodge would be a quart of ATF at the next oil change... No idea on the other though.

OH, new PVC, and still having oil getting sucked in through the TB...any ideas there? Or maybe related?

First, see if you can pin point where the ticking is coming from. That will eliminate half of the possible causes. If the sound is coming from around the TB, then it could be a bad gasket or worn vacuum hose. If the ticking is coming from underneath the valve cover, then most likely there's a problem with the valve train. Make sure your oil level is full and you're using the correct viscosity.
