hello, i have a 302 in a '90 f 150. when you drive it in town it tends to chug. i first discovered that a plug wired was off. that took care of the major chugging. but when you coast through town at 35 mph or so it tends to chug. i didn't know if i had a u - joint going out or something but i first suspected the motor if anything.
it also hammers if you pull i relly big load and go down hill with and take your foot off the gas. anything you can tell me will be appreciated.
It sounds like you may have an ignition problem, if the plug wires rotor and cap are new, then i'd look elsewhere, unless the pickup inside the dizzy is going south, and it will cause this too... intermittent jerking. A U joint shouldn't jerk unless you remove your foot from the gas and then get back on it... hope this helps!
Check for fouled plugs they can do some strange things.

hello,
if i go around a curve and let off the gas and then hit the gas again as i come out of the curve it chugs when i hit the gas again and then let off to coast. is this a u joint?
hello,
i meant to say clunk. the truck seems to jerk when you push the gas, and then let, and then push it again. it feels like when you are going down hill and you have a load hammering on the truck. this happens when there is no load there. thus, it is worse when i do pull a load. what do you think now?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Feb-02 AT 07:06 PM (EST)]Well, the u-joints could be the culprit...jack up the truck and check them out...you should see some play in them as you turn the drive shaft...and make sure you use jack stands!!!
