hi , is thier a way to know if a chip is in this truck,
02 f150,5.4 , 130k , have 01, 190k, 02 thorta, resp. and general running,
is better, i realize 60k more 0n 01
you'll have to clarify you're post is very confusing. Are you wanting to put a chip in the 02 or the 01? A chip is pretty useless unless your truck is heavily modified.
A tuner will make a very nice difference, if you are not going to modify these trucks much then you can get one with a canned tune that will work pretty well. I use a Diablosport and have it set to run on regular fuel. It makes a big difference with the transmission shifts. I dont think that there are any "chips" for these...
A dealer should be able to tell if there is a different tune on the truck. Otherwise it would be pretty hard to tell.
thats pretty normal to good fuel mileage for these trucks. what motors do they have? the extra mileage on the '01 could be the difference if it was thrashed all it's life, it's gonna be more tired. It might be a good time to do a second plug change on the '01, couldn't hurt anything and may increase your throttle response some. Also, change your fuel filter if you can't remember the last time it was changed, and run some fuel cleaner, preferably sea foam, through a tank of fuel and see where that gets ya. Just a few cheap things to try before jumping on a chip or programmer.
There actually was a "chip" for these 5.4l engines, it was made by Superchips and called a 1100 module that could be flashed acording to your pcm calibration. I have used the chip, a 1715 Superchips tuner, and now have the pleasure of owning a Xcal-3 with custom tunes.....by far much better than any canned tunes can offer.
