302 rebuild question

I am going to be rebuilding my 302 this year. Would I be able to make it a 331 by jsut adding the stroker crank or would it require more work on the engine.

Stroking a motor requires more than just changing the crank. You also need to change rods and pistons. I'm not sure, but I don't think the 331 stroker requires any rod to block clearancing.

The 331 does not require you to "clearance" the block like the 347 does. If you bore the block over, you'd need new pistons anyway. Stroker kits are relatively inexspensive if you can install them yourself. Some machine shops only charge like $300 to assemble a short block, though, so you're still not talking about more than $2000-2500 to build a stroker.
Anyway,later.

331 is a good choice. it makes nearly the same power as a 347 without all the machining. it actually makes the piston to cylinder wall angle better than stock and will be a very reliable engine for a very long time.
