Chime when driver's door is open
I have this rather annoying problem with the driver's door. Whenever it is open, a warning chime sounds. It does this with the engine off, the headlight switch off and the key removed from the ignition. If the engine is running, it does not make a sound.
Now this may be related so I'll mention it, my interior and running board lights will not turn off when all of the doors, rear hatch, and rear window are closed. I can manually flip the switch on each of the dome lights to turn them off, but had to pull the lamps out of the running boards since those have no off switch. I did do the WD-40 trick on each of the door latches in case it was a door switch, but that didn't change a thing.
I have the set of factory manuals being shipped so that I'll have the wiring diagrams, but it's not due to arrive until the end of next week. So in the meantime I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what to look for? Thanks!
Yesterday I received the factory manuals I ordered along with the electrical diagrams. With those in hand I was able to probe the door wiring going to the GEM and found continuity from the rear gate. (FYI, all switches are open when the doors are closed and they make contact when a door is opened.) Also, the rear glass and liftgate switches are wired in parallel. This meant that one of the two rear switches was shorted. By unplugging them one at a time I was able to determine that the switch for the liftgate and not the rear window was the problem. This also solved the problem of my rear wiper not working.
