My mom called me today to tell me there was a huge explosion in Nipawin today.
I guess an excavating company hit a gas line, and blew a building apart. My sister works across the street and said she heard the explosion and went outside to check it out and there was dust everywhere and she actually seen a wall fall down.
One guy was killed for sure and my mom thought maybe another. Guess ill find out more on the news tonight. Crazy stuff though.
My uncle used to own a excavating company and one of his workers hit a 4 inch gas line. no explosion but punctured it good. He said how many tens of thousands it was to repair but insurance never cover it.
Yeah they hit a 4 inch one in this case too. If that were me digging near lines, or pipes I would be really carefull. I kinda wonder how crap like that happens.
Inexperience can be confused with plainly not paying attention, or lack of common sense.
Like to me it jsut makes sence. Call before ya dig, always. Then watch where you dig. For a project that is near gas lines, get a spotter and take wee little bites.
If your familiar with nipawin, it happened near center and main street. Kind of across from the credit union, nipawin journal. Right in behing the true value, bodies by choice.
From what i hear they were tearing down the fiddler agencies building.
