I lived in CA for 50 years and I'm with Scott, the scariest one was the Loma Prieta quake in 1989. The only time I had stuff falling from the walls and a bookcase tip over. Next to that one was while driving on the freeway and having my car swerve across 2 lanes. There wasn't much traffic and poeple stopped there cars and walked around them thinking they had a flat or lost a tire, me being one of them. Didn't realize at the time it was a quake.
The '91 Northridge epicenter was about a mile and a half north of us, the '71 Sylmar was about nine north. I was also here for the '51 Tehachapi, but that was farther away, maybe 50 miles as the crow flies.
We just ride 'em out, then patch the cracks in the plaster for the next two years.
Live in SoCal (Fontana) until 1994, the Landers and Big Bear quakes were heavy hitters with the Northridge one deserving an honorable mention. Don't miss them at all. Was only 2 years old for the '71 quake.
Williamston MI. I felt it this a.m. I was awake watching tv in bed and I was thinking 'what the heck is Terri (girl friend) doing that I can feel the house shake'. About 10 minutes later the news announced they are getting several calls about it. Very strange.

If I don't ask, someone else will so I will get it out of the way for everybody. How much does your girlfriend weigh??
Glad to here that everyone is alright and that not much damage was done. Living in San Diego we get the rollers and like a few people have said, they are kind of neet to feel but I would'nt want to be in a jolter.
