Tire Time !
1. Going from 265s to 285s seems to have made the steering more spongy. There is a little more road wander than before.
3. It looks awesome with the new tires.

Guys, I just put on BFG AT KO 295/75/16s on 16x7 stock wheels about 2 weeks ago ... and the initial impression was great ... that was until I started doing some highway driving ... when I noticed the spongy wander that you describe above ...
Long story short, I previously had this problem that I addressed with new ball joints, drag link, etc. when I had my original 265/75/16s on and those changes seemed to resolve the issue to my satisfaction as I needed those new parts due to wear or whatever ... then I was able to drive with the proverbial one finger on the wheel ...
Fast forward to the 295s at highway speeds and it became a chore again to drive at highway speeds ... 3-4 inches of travel in the steering wheel, constant attention to steering and when changing lanes it would sort of jump into the next lane ...
Bottom line: I did the "steering box" adjustment, easily found on this forum and went 4- 1/4 turns tighter and that made a big difference ... I'm going to do another round of tightening this week but I'm sure that will resolve my problem.
I guess the larger/newer/grippier (is that a word) tires exaggerated the wander issue ... this is the first time I made the "steering box" fix ... I'll report on the results after I make the next adjustment ..

On a different note, while the X was up on the lift, I went underneath and got my first good look. For some reason, I thought that all '05s had the antisway bar. Mine does not. It is a late '05 (built in Sept '05). I suppose that installing one would improve the steering.
