86 302 ignition problem?
Hello, after a recent trip of approx. 120 miles round trip my 86 f150 with 302 has been acting strangely. After driving on short trips of 20 miles or so the darn thing loses power starts to ping and does not want to rev at all. We have some long grades to pull around here and it seems worse on the hills. The motor has approx. 162K miles and to my knowledge has never had this problem before, it has a K&N filter, and the O.D. man. tranny. 3.5 gears and 33"x9.5" tires. I hardly use O.D. I always buy my fuel at the same place and have never had problems in that respect. The plugs and wires cap and rotor have about 20K miles on them and look good. The upper and lower intakes were pulled in the fall of 2001 and cleaned thoroughly. Could it be the wonderful T.F.I. ignition? Thanks in advance for any help.

I would suspect a fuel supply problem. Hook a fuel pressure guage up to see if the fuel pressure falls when the problem happens. It could be the fuel filter or the fuel pump.
