device on tailshaft
took the tranny and transfer case out of my donor 79 f-150 4x4. had to split them due to the weight issue. the spacer was full of tranny fluid so i have to replace the rear seal. need to know what this thing is on the tailshaft and how to get it off.

That is the governor. Once you have the transmission disassembled and get the mainshaft out, you unbolt and remove the governor. At the other end of that assembly is a snap ring. Remove it and it slides off the front of the shaft.
