A few weeks ago I made out a big order to National Parts Depot (NPD). I started by ordering all the rubber pieces that go between fenders, cabs, and inner fenders. I then bought a firewall pad, floor cover (rubber), cab mount bolts, radiator core support mounting bolts, gaskets for many fixtures, new rubber moulding (for the doors, front and rear windshields, door windows), grommets for the firewall, and many, many other little bits of rubber and metal. It took me an hour to inventory all the stuff when it arrived yesterday.
A couple of the interesting things I noticed:
Many of the parts came from Dennis Carpenter (I guess NPD must use them as a parts supplier)
They will cram as much stuff into a box they can, but they also used lots of packing material to protect the goods.
The shipping is free for orders over $300, unless it is an oversized item. I originally ordered a new headliner for $110, but the oversized shipping fee would have been $140! I wonder why they bother selling them.
So, I got all the stuff, except one piece that is backordered. I recommend NPD (an FTE sponsor).
Now I have to remember where all these little things go.
Yippie, yippie !!! When do we start installing them? ;-)
In June, Dan and I are planning the cab swap over a weekend (or two). I'll keep you posted.
Khadma- thanks for the post. I will post more later when I start using the parts and rate how well made they are.
i was looking through the inventory of stuff I ordered. The funny thing I noticed was that I spent a lot of money on some really boring stuff. I didn't get a new intake manifold, or a cool ignition system. I got rubber door seals. The other funny thing is that I am really excited to install them on the old truck.
So after they are installed you will have a quieter truck that does not leak water. Should be cool. And even though they are not big ticket items like a new igntion or manifold, they are a nice touch and are needed.
I actually want to buy a new drivers side wing window seal. The whistle that comes from that seal drives me crazy at times. Ah, if only money grew on trees ...
I'm interested to hear what you think of the firewall pad and headliner. I'm curious if I should fork out the cash or try to rig something myself.
Thanks,
B.S.

I will tell you about the firewall pad when I get it installed. As for the headliner, I didn't order it because the shipping was $140. I am going to keep an eye out salvage yards or make my own.
