want to get a 4" turbo back system for my truck, have seen the MKO system advertised on the site and see them on ebay very reasonably priced. i have a couple questions.
they claim 1-3 mpg increase, is this a legitimate claim?
is the hp increases they claim noticeable by seat of the pants?
how is the sound, i would like something close to stock sound. i dont' mind a little louder, but dont' want an obnoxious system.
thanks for the help, i'm looking for anything i can find to increase mileage. diesel hit $4.25 here in central maine today!
I just installed this system this past weekend. As far as the mpg claim, I highly doubt you will see any increase. I also doubt that you will see any increase in power either. The sound is definately louder when you step on the throttle. It almost sounds like a gasser with duals, but not quite as in the cab. It's really not bad in the cab at all. I got the muffler though, not sure what the straight pipe would sound like. But the exhaust will be less restrictive than the stock exhaust, so if you are planning on getting a chip it will help out.
I put a 4" SS magnaflow system on my truck, with a muffler. Went on easy, looks stock, it is only a little bit louder out back, with no noticable difference in the truck.
I did not see any mpg increase to note. The turbo spools up quicker...I think....
i dont have a turbo back system yet but my buddy has those cool duels i know there not the same but his mufflers have more drone in the cab than my straight pipe (stock just muffler delete) it could just be a difference in company..
I did some serious research on exhaust system,s and went with 1# price 2#maker of product 3# easy install 4# sound clips. I got the cool duals and no drone just pure power. I don't know about mileage because i got my foot into it loving the sound.

I have the 4" MKO straight pipe system. For the money, you can't beat it. I had no problems with the install and the fitment was great. I didn't see an increase in mileage or power but didn't expect too. I was going for mainly an EGT decrease, which I got.
As for sound, I'm straight piped and the sound level isn't that bad at all. I can roll up the windows and not even hear the exhaust note at all. But the sound is awesome, especially when driving thru a tunnel or under a bridge.
thanks for the replies, i'm still looking at all my choices, but i think MKO will get the nod because of price. i was hoping to hear some increases in mileage to help justify spending the $$$, but lower EGT's will help.

As far as EGTs go, I was stock straight piped before I went to the 4" MKO. I saw about 50 degree drop on just straight piping the stock exhaust. After the 4", I had a 100 degree drop. Cruising the highway at 70mph, I'm around 450-475 EGT. This is on flat terrain though.

Ditto for me.
I got my 5' for the EGT benefit as well..........and they dropped like a rock. My MKO has the straight thru muffler, but I'm not convinced that it muffles much
That being said, I don't find it bothersome either.
