i have a 69 351w out of a galaxy, i keep reading about the gt40 p
heads and would like to know wether or not it would be worth it for me to refurbish my old heads or to just purchase the gt40 p's
what would be the advantages and disadvantages, the cam is 224 and
234 at .50 so either way i would have to upgrade on springs correct?
lift is .520 on cam. i think the heads are 2v.i know both heads
have the same size valves, thanks
The Gt-40 P heads have a raised exhaust port that keeps headers fom bolting up to them, so you'll have to have a special set of headers made if you're going to run these heads. The '69 heads should flow excellent, if they're in good condition. The cost of getting the heads reworked at a machine shop may actually be more than just buying a set of World's Windsor Junior Heads, which will dominate the GT40 P heads at all RPMs, and give you more compression due to the modern high efficient 58 cc chambers, but they run about $800/pair.
