Timing

What would be a good place to set the timing at on a 351W. I just replaced the motor, kept it stock. It has a 2 bbl carb. I'm looking for the most power and best fuel economy.

ive always set mine at 8 degrees btdc

Timing

Bump it up a little at a time till it starts pinging with the fuel you normally run. Then back it off till it quits pinging. This will be the setting that will give the most power and fuel economy.
