Can anybody give me a P/N or a link to what exact one i need Auto-Enginuity-PC-Based-OBD-II-Scanners these are the ones i've found, looks like a good price. Just some input on where to get one cheap and what one i need. Thanks in advance
The scanner will be fine as long as you ordered the enhanced bundle. I ordered the domestic package for work (Ford, GM & Chrysler enhanced) I don't really understand all the information I can get out of this thing. The only trouble I've had with my AE was it came with 2 different plugs for the domestic package and I've got to remember which one to plug in to my truck.

I have the domestic enhanced package as well. It works great on the Ford and Dodge diesels, but it really blows when you try and run it on a duramax. Chevy decided to go with different protocalls than anyone else and the scanners that were availible a few years ago didn't come with the package. AE only recently released the upgrades necissary to read the d-max data. Gotta spend another $50 bucks to get the right stuff to make mine work right.
Assuming you are only gonna read ford stuff, you should be good to go!
I bought mine straight from AE's website. never even considered going through a third party..................

Mike, I got the Dodge's plug and extended package a while back to use on my 2500 but it would not work and AE wasn't able to help. Ended sending it back. What year and model Dodge are you using yours on? Works ok?
Ok, let me rephrase that. It works great, once you get the goofy thing to work at all. The Ford stuff went off without any real issues. The dodge stuff used the different connector and took a lot of head scratching to get to work. The trick is not in getting the interface to recognize the truck, it is in getting the computer to recognize the interface.
The computer had to install the interface in two different stages. First round it would pop up showing a new device. Had to let the computer look for and install the drivers. Unplug and replug. Again the computer said there was a new device. Let it look AGAIN and keep letting it install and then search until it stops finding new modules. If you look in the appendixes section of the AE manual it describes certain hardware compatibility issues with the chrysler interface, it also describes how to deal with them. My solution was unfortunately NOT in this information, but it provided enough information for me to get an idea what was wrong.
I have used it on 2004+ trucks since then with no issues. Like I stated earier, the problems i had only were related to the interface itself, not recognizing the vehicles.
In my case, the AE would read certain parameters and others would be trash, RPM=112343 or temp=8876. I didn't know what to believe and what not to believe. AE was just scratching their head. Hope they have it straightened out by now. The ford has always worked great. Back on topic: I also went directly to AE to purchase. Price was ot that different than other vendors.
It wasn't the scanner, that works great. I was having a problem with low boost and power. Did a pressure check and found no leaks, adjusted the wastegate actuator without any real improvement. Not until I connected the AE and followed a wastegate test procedure that I found here did I finally find a problem with the sensor. I also use this on my wife's Explorer.
