My 2002 F250 with 152,000 has a slight miss at idle. Then when you ease into th eaccelerator it has a slight hesitation. Then again at about 50 MPH if you are maintaining speed and accelerate again the hesitation.. If you step on it it goes!!! Fuel injectors need cleaning?????? Fuel filter is changed every 15,000. I have used the chevron FICleaner and it works a little but the hesitation comes right back.
Can someone lead me in the right direction please. I am no Mechanic... Is there something to pour in the fuel or does a pro need to do it or is there something eles that needs to be done.. Plugs, boots and a new coil about 10,000 ago.
Had this EXACT same problem on mine. Missfire didn't start until a plug change. I then repalced all 10 COPS, cleaned MAF, cleaned injectors, no diagnostic MIL and months went by with no progress. The issue ended up being in the wiring harness. The plugs that connect at the injectors were going bad and losing connection. Dealer replaced all 10 for under $400.00. No problems since.
If you haven't cleaned it, then might want to give it a try. Easy to do...using electronics cleaner or MAF sensor cleaner from you local parts store. Remove from the air filter container...and spray clean. Wait until it is dry...and reinstall. You'll need a TORX bit to remove.
Idle Air Control motor... it's a valve on the throttle body that the computer can turn open or closed and controls how much air gets past the throttle plates, so the computer can control the idle speed - like turning the throttle stop screw on a carb affects the idle.
If it's stuck, the PCM will use the timing to keep it at a constant idle. (At least, that's what it APPEARS the PCM does, Johnny!)
Thanks guys.. creating a list and will try everything this weekend...
That's exactly what I did as I read this thread...created a list.
Have a similar problem. When I had a dealer check out the truck, he told me that Cylinders #2 & 4 were misfiring.
In my case, I'm guessing it's more likely the wiring harness. The Fuel Injection system seems to have been recently replaced so maybe they somehow messed up the wiring or did this in an attempt to fix the stuttering and just left it at that.

Good info.
If you have misfires on #2 and #4, then it could be the COP (coil on plug), spark plug, or spark plug boot.
I cleaned the MAF sensor and that helped for a day. I don't know if that thing can go bad and not sure how of if it comes out of that part of the air filter housing? I used quick clean and need to try it again with some electro type cleaner.

The MAF seems to be the main culprit for most minor problems...then the next step up are the COP's.
Whatever it is, I got the truck at such a great price that it's worthing putting a couple thousand into it.
Honestly, I was expecting to get a basket case for what I paid.
Aestetically, she looks great...nice straight body, absolutely no chassis damage,
clean CarFax Report except for the mileage because after 100K, they can't confirm it's mileage,
but at last legitmate read 10 months ago, it was 116K Miles and is now at 136K Miles,
so that would seem like 2K miles a month...not unreasonable and if someone was going to tamper with it, they probably would've put less than 20K...or not.
Regardless, the engine bay and engine look immaculate.
