service engine light on then back off?

I took my 99 f-350 powerstroke in for the recall for the cam sensor a few weeks ago. Ever since i got it back my service engine soon light has came on a few times. It will come on for about two seconds then go back off. When it comes on the motor goes to and idle, you can push on the pedal and nothing happens. Then the light goes out and it runs fine. Its happened twice recently. Does any one know what could cause this. Thanks.

Welcome to FTE. We've seen a few problems out of the new CPS's being installed during the recall. If this all started after the recall the first thing I would check is to make sure the connector got plugged back in all the way and there are no bent pins inside the plug. Then talk to your dealer and explain the problem to him. Since everything started with the new CPS that sounds like the culprit. If they want to charge you to look at your truck, I'd just buy a new CPS and install it yourself. You can get them for less than $30 from Ford. Keep your old one as a spare in case the new one leaves you stranded somewhere. Just throw it in the glove box for safe keeping.

Instructions to change it yourself are here Welcome to guzzle's CPS R&R Web Page

thanks for the fast reply. I will call them tomorrow to see what they say. I have owned this truck for almost seven years with out any problems except oil line leaks hope its something simple.

Oil line leaks are simple too. Hang around a while and do some reading. There's lots to learn here.
