Tranny Question(NEED HELP QUICK!)

Ok, Changing tranny filter in my '95 5.0 4R70W.

This part was in the pan. I need to know what it is and if I can put it back with no issues. Thanks for any quick replies.

I believe that is left in at the factory at the time of it's initial filling. That means you are the first to change the tranny fluid since the factory original fill.

about every 3 months this is asked.

it shows that the pan has not been dropped.

keep it for a conversation starter.

Wow, learn something new every day. Is that a magnet or an O-ring around it? I can't see a reason that the factory would intentionaly leave something bouncing around in the bottom of the pan. Part of the assembly process, I guess.

Done, I did the converter first. Then there was the drama, a face load of dirty fluid. I knew the pan was going to drop but it still caught me by surprise. Then the dreaded mystery part. All is good now. Drove truck, checked for leaks(new ones that is, lol). Took shower. Seems better but won't know how much until a trip to work. I had the all too common between shift shudder. We'll see.

I bought an aod from an '86 Lincoln to rebuild and put in my '54. It also had the plug in the pan. So I guess from 1986 til 2002 (when I rebuilt it) the fluid had never been changed. Or, maybe they took it to a dealer or quick lube place where they hooked up some lines and purged the trans without changing the filter.
