I had a rough idle caused by a bad ICP. Free to check, just unplug your ICP and see if it smooths out. The truck will default to a "canned" fueling table and will run and drive pretty normally. The ICP is above the front end of the drives side valve cover, immediatly adjacent to the fule bowl. If it turns out to be the ICP then look for a new one on e-bay for about $50.

Under valve cover harnesses will be another thing to consider, particularly if your getting a service engine light.

Just a couple of thoughts here.

First check you oil. Both crankcase and HPOP. Really.

Second have you tried to drain any water out of the seperator?

Have you changed the OEM filter.

If you believe that the filter is dirty enough to be clogged up, then it is doing it's job.

You might consider putting another (bigger) filter ahead of the OEM filter.

Usually (damn near always) a clogged filter shows itself more at higher RPM's or heavy fueling loads than at idle.

One last thought.............iffin it's 2danglong, you shoulda got the SWB....

On edit----read your sig......now perhaps I am just envious!!!!!

Hopefully you won't have tochange your sticks, but I just did mine and found that they were half of them were really gunked up on the fuel side. That's with a HUGE NAPA 3384 before the main filter. I still have a goofy idle though .....

P.S.- don't let the stealership gouge you- they wanted to charge me $4500 to do injectors, VC gaskets, UVC harness, glow plugs...... I did my injectors for $1300.
