i have a 94 for explorer and i have a code i beleive its a 56 and a 66 has something to do with the mass air flow. my truck is sputtering alittle lost power. i checked my spark plugs on the drivers side and they are like a cream colored when i pulled them out and mind you i have just replaced the spark plugs. my question is will the mass air flow fix this? i have slit fired that i have bought for the explorer awhile back will they work good on this truck? i have autolite platinums running in there right now. thanks. oh yeah i was planning on getting the mass sir flow sensor in the junk yard for now till i get paid next week can i just pull off the sensor with out oulling the whole things on the air intake tube?
Ok, the MAF sensor is probably in need of either cleaning or replacement, I would pursue that for now since you have codes suggesting that may be the issue. You have the Autolite platinums? Are they double platinums or single, because singles will work, but won't last very long on one bank. Do not use the splitfires, stick with Autolite double platinums because everything else seems to cause ignition issues, and if it works, it is more a matter of luck.
Clean your current sensor, and if that doesn't resolve the issue, buy a new or rebuilt one. I know they are expensive, but it is not worth the hassle and frustration of another one that might be brocken or dirty, and might cause issues if its not a perfect match.
Yeah, those call for double platinums, has to do with the way the plugs are fired in pairs. Single plats will work, but one bank will wear out much faster.
