I have a 1984 F-150 and replaced the clutch, slave, and master cylinders. I bleed the system, and tried everything i could think of, but the clutch will not go back to normal. It basically does not shift into gear when stopped, but when driving i can kind of make it work. Also it seems when the truck is off there is more pressure tothe clutch pedal that goes away when the truck is started. Any insight into the fixing of this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Is this a external slave cylinder? Does it appear that the clutch is not going in far enough? Can you have someone push the clutch in while you watch and see how far the slave cylinder is pushing the fork.
It seems that I recall there could be a problem with the firewall flexing not allowing the clutch to fullly disengage the clutch. Can't remeber for sure though if it pertains to this year body style.
I just had something similar to this. To the point where If I wanted to put it in first I had actually turn off the motor, but once moving I could drive it with no problems, jjust stopped I couldn't shift it.
Had a new clutch already and the master and slave cylinders were new. Mine turned out to be the transmission. Had to take it in and get it rebuilt. I think it was about 750.00 five or six months ago and haven't had a problem since.
good luck,
C
