tonite after doing barn chores my 11 yr old son was giving me cr*p about never driving my 71 well he has drove every thing here including the semi's and hes very good at so i tossed him the keys and let him run around the yard then he asked if he could do some burn outs!! i said well just stand on it!!! well then im standing there thinkin here i am teachin the kid how to spin tires!! i know i should feel guitly about it but he was havin a great time and so was i watchin him
My dad was a member of the Ramcharger drag team. He always had quick cars and used the throttle a lot. Then when I saved up enough to get a '66 442 he explained that if I get caught drag racing the car would be in the yard with a for sale sign. I did get caught, but by then I was 18. His warnings didn't stop me. They just made me careful.
he's gonna do it at some point in life. better off with you having fun than at an intersection with his buddies getting slammed with a 1,000 dollar ticket.
i view the same way with alcohol. if i had a son i would let him drink a beer with me whenever he wants, that way its not a big deal to him and he will be less likely to end up in the hospital somewhere from getting too trashed or overdosing at a party.

Stand on it? Uh oh...not good.
Spinning tires on older vehicles is a very bad idea.
Parts like axle shafts can crystalize from age and snap in two.
When that happens, it might take out the axle housing in the process.
trust me ive tested the strength of them axles before and every thing else for that matter!! i do know him well enuff to not have the bottle in the tool box, he's a little sneaky that way
I would say go for it, but let him know what can happen as a result, then have him help make repairs when he breaks something like clutch discs, u-joints, drivelines, diff parts, axle shafts, etc.
Yes that's very wrong! "stand on it"? you need to power brake it to do a good smokn' burn out! You don't want him learning this from some girl at school do you?
Do you want your son to grow up and be a mama's boy or a man's man? I say, teach them how to do burnouts, shoot guns, protect himself in a fight, and skin a deer. A man needs to know his limitations and you don't want those limitations to be a girly man.
