Post starting problems (302)

The 302 in my '79 F-150 doesn't start. The fuel pump has been replaced, as well as the filter. It has a remanufactured carb that's 4 months old, as well as a brand new ignition module. I can pour gas down the choke, and it will burn that until it all runs out. Fuel is getting into the carb, but it doesn't seem to burn. Does anyone else agree that I have contaminated fuel, or another fuel system problem? I have seen air bubbles come up the line(I have a clear fuel line).
Thanks for any help in advanced.

PS-It's stuck in a parking lot right now, and I have to get it towed.

I think your fuel is contaminated, sometimes even good fuel filters won't catch the particles that can bog down your carburetor. Try some starting fluid, That stuff will almost always work, and it only costs like 2 bucks. then, once it is started, use an additive like Techron in a bottle to flush it clean. I'm sure some of these old timers can offer you better suggestions on flushing chemicals, but that one works for me.
Now here's what I did to keep this from happening again: Use a Napa Gold P/N 3003 clear view, plexiglass fuel filter. It uses a 3/8" inlet and outlet, and it isn't made of glass, so you don't have to worry about it exploding and torching your vehicle (I've seen it happen). Never use glass fuel filters, and the Napa P/N 3003 is the only one I know of that is clear view, so you can monitor pump function, and isn't glass. Mount it between your pump and the carburetor. Now, the trick is to go to AutoZone, and get a Deutsch P/N 745 fuel filter, 4 3/8" hose clamps, and about two feet of 3/8" fuel/emmisions rubbe hose. mount the big 745 in a loop fashion by disconnecting the rubber hose attached to the sender on your fuel tank, and splicing the new, bigger filter in between the tank and the metal fuel line that runs to the pump. It may be redundant, but having clean fuel is not something to mess with, filters cost $6-7, and towing costs at least $60. If your interested, respond to this and I'll show you the pictures of mine.

Torqueking, if the pics of your truck are in your gallery, I've seen it. Looks nice. I'll be working on my truck today, so I'll post further details when I'm finished.

Sounds like you have moer of a pickup problem. If you have air bubbles coming up the line check for a leak or bad union from the tank to the filter. If nothing pops up disconnect the fuel line from the tank outlet and put it in a gas can. If you can run your truck the pick up tube has a hole/crack. I had to replace the pickup in mine.

Well, the carburetor seemed to be the problem. No fuel was being sprayed from the jets. I had an old carb I put on there, and managed to get the truck back to my house. The new carb I have is still under warranty, so I'm just going to get it replaced.

I'd still look in to beefing up your fuel filters, you gotta protect that new carb, or it won't be spraying fuel after long either.

By the way, my Gallery is out of date, I have done a great deal of work to it, new cam/heads/vavletrain, and painted EVERYTHING. I'm still trying to figure out how to update my gallery.
