Hey All, Hope your all enjoying your projects this weekend!
question: I have the vaccume wipers on my '54 and checked the movement before putting arms on (twice now). with truck off I find the upper stop point and the lower stop point...install arms and when I run the truck and turn on the wipers they dont stop and start in the right place anymore....is there a trick to properly locating the arms....I would hate these things to go too far off the windshield either direction on mess up the seal or paint....
any advice appreciated...even if it's to get a retro electrical setup...but I think they interfere with the stock cowl vent (Iwould like to keep the vent operational).
thanks...later, Ed
I suspect you are finding the "end of travel" by manually moving the linkage until the vacuum piston hits the inside of case, in each direction? I think the vacuum control system stops it well before it actually hits the case. So you need to set the arms by trial and error, is my guess.
Ed, my 54 was stock with 6v electric and they did not get in the way of cowl vent. I modified the wiper motor by combining one of 63 with frame of the 54 and I have 2 speed that rests on dash support. I plan on fixing it better when I have time.
