power inverter installation

where is the best place to install a 1200 watt power inverter? It will be powering a large chest freezer in bed of the truck on a 3 day 2000 mile trip.

Behind the rear seat with a weather proof outlet installed in the bed. If you happen to have a cap on the truck, then you can safely install it in the bed of the truck. welcome to fte, you'll enjoy it here.

inverter location

I run a 4k watt inverter inside my topped bed. I built a plywood box 12"x12" by 40" long. The inverter and two deep cycle Optimas sit next to each other along the back bed wall. I covered the box with matching bed dr. fabrick. To power/charge the batts I ran a 2awg cable from one of the underhood batts, with an 40 amp fuse, and most important a relay that's closed(working) when the trucks ignition is on. This keeps you from running down the trucks batts. which can happen very quickly when running an inverter. I use my inverter to power a small microwave, and drip coffee pot (at seperate times)while traveling. I hope 1200 watts is enough for a full sized freezer, sound a little small to me....
