Transmission Help
Hey all...
Im gathering parts for my 78 F100 4x4 short bed, and looking for a good transmission. The truck is a standard shift 4 spd currently. I will be putting in a fresh 302 and would like to put a 5 speed transmission behind it. What years F-series trucks will have the currect transmission? Are their any that I should stay away from.
Im thinking im going to buy a complete truck and swap the trans/transfer case as an assembly. Hell maybe even the engine if it is good.
I realize this isnt a simple bolt in trans/transfer case wise but that isn't any worry to me. Im more concerned about durability.
I have seen a jeep guy put a 302 in his jeep, and he used a mustang 5 speed with some sort of tailshaft adapter.
Any ideas are helpful ...
